The exhibition of Milan Klemenčič - the first Slovene Pupeteer
In the Slovene marrionete theatre the exhibition of the first Slovene Pupeteer take place from 5th till 17th of February. The review of his artist work could be seen for free.
Milan Klemenčičwas born in 1875 in Solkan and died in 1957 in Ljubljana.
In 1903, he settled with his family in the village of Šturje, where he worked as a court official in the nearby
Ajdovščina.
In his free time he painted. Already on 22 December 1910 he performed the first puppet show in the Little Puppet Theatre in
Šturjeand therefore the village of Šturje became the birthplace of the first Slovene puppet theatre. In 1912, Klemenčič appealed the Slovene public to support the existing puppet theatre, with a wide selection of home and foreign plays, emphasizing that it is artistically improved, educationally oriented and adequate not only for the young, but also for the adult audience.
