How to reach us

The town of Ajdovščina has played an important transport role since the ancient times. The Romans built a road called the Roman Road, which led from Aquileia via through the Vipava Valley to Pannonia. The Roman Road was of crucial importance as it was the only link between the Mediterranean and Middle Europe. At first, only the road station Fluvio Frigido was set up and in time a military settlement Castra developed.
Today two important roads run through the valley, a main road and a highway, the latter still being under construction. But from 2007 on, when the construction works will have been finished, the valley will be even easier to reach and of greater importance in terms of transport.
